・About the fabric

First, in Aichi, the base color was obtained through sulfur dyeing using deadstock dyes, then transported to Kyoto, where sumi ink dyeing was applied by hand by artisans at a local long-established silk screen workshop.

The thick stripes are sumi ink hand-prints.
The thin stripes are the base color from sulfur dyeing.

The uneven appearance created by the hand-printing blends with the fabric's original color, deepening and fading as it is worn.

・About the lining (nouchi exclusive)

For this nouchi exclusive, the lining uses silk dyed with "Mountain dye." Mountain dye is an ancient dyeing technique passed down among the Dong ethnic minority living in Guizhou Province, China. They collect plants from the mountains and fields to dye their clothes. Stovaigh visited them, entrusted them with silk from the designer's hometown of Sichuan, and commissioned this ancient dyeing technique solely for the lining of this garment.

The olive-colored outer fabric and the wavering deep crimson ground. The two colors complement each other, creating a unique atmosphere characteristic of the East.
