・About the fabric
First, the base color was obtained in Aichi using sulfur dyeing with dead stock dyes, then transported to Kyoto, where craftsmen at a local long-established silk screen workshop applied ink dyeing by hand.
The thick stripes are hand-printed ink dye.
The thin stripes are the base color from sulfur dyeing.
The uneven appearance created by the hand printing blends with the fabric's original color and will further intertwine or fade with repeated wear.
・About the lining (nouchi exclusive)
For this nouchi exclusive, silk dyed with "Mountain Dye" is used for the lining. Mountain Dye is an ancient dyeing technique passed down by the Dong ethnic minority who live in Guizhou Province, China. They collect plants from the mountains and fields and use them to dye their clothes. Stovaigh visited them and entrusted them with silk from the designer's hometown of Sichuan, commissioning this ancient dyeing technique solely for the lining of this work.
The olive-colored outer fabric and the wavering deep red base. The two colors complement each other, creating a unique atmosphere characteristic of the East.
